Harrison Moore, Georgia Tech OL, Enters Transfer Portal

The transfer portal is in full swing, and while many teams are experiencing changes to their rosters, Georgia Tech has been particularly affected. The latest addition to the list of players entering the portal is starting offensive lineman Harrison Moore, who recently announced his decision on social media. Moore, who started eight games this season at center, played a total of 682 snaps according to PFF (Pro Football Focus). His overall grade was 63.6, with a 68.4 in pass blocking and a 65.5 in run blocking.
With Moore's departure, the offensive line for Georgia Tech is set to see several new faces next season. Allen Mogridge will return as the coach for this group after Geep Wade left for Nebraska. However, with Moore leaving and Keylan Rutledge and Joe Fusile no longer eligible, the Yellow Jackets will have three new starters on the interior.
Moore is the fourth offensive lineman from Georgia Tech to enter the portal this year, joining Tana Alo-Tupuola, Benjamin Galloway, and Peyton Joseph.
New offensive coordinator

While Georgia Tech still has work to do on its roster, one key piece of the puzzle has been finalized with the hiring of George Godsey as the new offensive coordinator. Godsey, a former quarterback for Georgia Tech from 1998 to 2001, holds several program records. He set the school record for career completion percentage (63.3) and ranked second in career pass efficiency rating (143.64). His senior year in 2001 saw him set a Georgia Tech record with 249 completions. He is third all-time in touchdown passes (41), fourth in passing yards (6,137), and fifth in attempts (765).
Godsey finished his playing career among the top 20 in ACC history for career passing yards (15th) and total offense (19th). He earned All-ACC Second Team honors in 2000 and was an all-conference academic selection in 2001.
Godsey’s coaching career began at UCF from 2004 to 2010, where he worked alongside current Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key. He started as a graduate assistant before being promoted to quarterbacks coach (2005–2008) and later moved to running backs coach in 2009. During his time at UCF, the team participated in three bowl games and won two conference titles.
After UCF, Godsey transitioned to the NFL, working with the New England Patriots (2011–2014), Houston Texans (2014–2016), Detroit Lions (2017–2018), Miami Dolphins (2019–2021), and most recently with the Baltimore Ravens as the tight ends coach.
The only years Godsey has experience as a play-caller in either the NFL or college were 2015 and 2016 with the Houston Texans. In 2015, the Texans made history by becoming the first NFL team since 1950 to make the playoffs with four different starting quarterbacks winning at least one regular-season game. WR DeAndre Hopkins finished third in the NFL with 1,521 receiving yards, and his 11 receiving touchdowns tied for seventh.
In 2016, Houston won the AFC South and advanced to the AFC Wild Card game against Oakland in QB Brock Osweiler’s first full season as an NFL starter. The team finished with the league’s eighth-best rushing attack (116.2 ypg).
Godsey served as a defensive assistant with the Lions in 2017 before becoming the quarterbacks coach in 2018. He then coached tight ends with the Dolphins and the Ravens.
Now, the focus shifts to what Godsey will bring to the offensive staff. Will he also take on another position, such as coaching tight ends? Will Chris Weinke remain on the staff? Georgia Tech has reportedly hired TCU running backs coach Jimmy Smith to fill that role. Head coach Brent Key has already confirmed that Allen Mogridge will be taking over as the offensive line coach.
There is a lot to accomplish for Godsey as the new offensive coordinator. Georgia Tech has several questions to address, including at quarterback, wide receiver, and up front, not to mention the ongoing activity in the transfer portal.
