Travis Kelce and the Chiefs Head to Las Vegas for Season Finale as He Considers Retirement
Travis Kelce's Final Chapter in the NFL
Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs have arrived in Las Vegas, marking what could be the final game of his legendary NFL career. The 36-year-old tight end is set to play his last match of the season on Sunday when the Chiefs face Tom Brady’s Raiders in a game that holds little significance for the outcome of the playoffs.
The speculation around Kelce’s potential retirement has intensified since it was confirmed that the Chiefs failed to make the playoffs. This season, which has been a rollercoaster for the team, saw Kelce deliver an impressive individual performance with 839 yards and five touchdowns, despite the team’s struggles.
Kelce was seen stepping off the team’s private flight on Saturday afternoon, appearing relaxed and casual in a black co-ord and a khaki sweater. With his sunglasses on, he gave little away as he made his way to the bus waiting on the tarmac, listening to music.

Since being drafted in 2013, Kelce has remained with the Chiefs, winning three Super Bowls and cementing his place as one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history. However, his contract with the Chiefs expires at the end of the season, and many believe this will be the end of his professional football journey.
There are growing expectations that Kelce will use this opportunity to retire and focus on his personal life, particularly with his engagement to Taylor Swift. The couple is reportedly planning to tie the knot on June 13 at the luxurious Ocean House in Rhode Island, close to Swift’s property in the northeastern United States.
If Swift makes the trip to Las Vegas for this dead rubber game, it would likely indicate that this is indeed Kelce’s final appearance on the field. She hasn’t attended a road game since the Chiefs won in the playoffs against the Buffalo Bills in January 2024.
Kelce has remained tight-lipped about his future plans, stating that he will make a decision after the season ends and has had time to speak with the Chiefs, as well as his friends and family. However, he has previously mentioned that he wouldn’t consider playing for any other team in the NFL besides the Chiefs.
After the Chiefs lost the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles in February, Kelce seemed on the verge of retiring but ultimately decided against it, not wanting to end his career on such a low note.
In an emotionally charged interview with fellow franchise legend Tony Gonzalez on Christmas Day, Kelce addressed the retirement rumors. “I think I'm still searching for those answers,” he said when asked about his decision. “Obviously the way this one ended with a sour taste in my mouth. I feel motivated, but I've got to make the right decision for myself.”
Despite the uncertainty, Kelce didn’t fully rule out the possibility of returning for one more season. “Just the fact that when I know it's over, it's over,” he added when Gonzalez questioned what he would return for. “I still have a lot of love for this game. If I came back, it would be just to answer that flame in my heart for this thing.”
As the Chiefs prepare for their final game of the season, all eyes are on Kelce to see whether this is truly the end of an era or if there is still more to come from the iconic tight end. His decision will not only impact his own legacy but also shape the future of the Chiefs and the NFL as a whole.
