Texas Tech Scores 100 to Beat Oklahoma State in Big 12 Opener

Texas Tech Dominates Oklahoma State in Big 12 Opener

The Texas Tech basketball team delivered a commanding performance, hitting 17 three-pointers and securing a 102-80 victory over Oklahoma State in their Big 12 Conference opener on Saturday at United Supermarkets Arena. The Red Raiders (11-3, 1-0) matched their season-high for made 3-pointers, which they previously achieved in the season opener against Lindenwood.

Donovan Atwell led the charge with 15 points, shooting 5 of 10 from beyond the arc. The team's overall shooting percentage was an impressive 45.9%, showcasing their offensive efficiency throughout the game.

As the Cowboys (12-2) adjusted their strategy to counter the Red Raiders' three-point threat, it opened up opportunities for J.T. Toppin inside the paint. Toppin proved to be a key player in the second half, scoring 19 of his game-high 23 points after halftime. Christian Anderson and LeJuan Watts each contributed 19 points, while freshman Jaylen Petty added 12.

Anderson also recorded a career-high 13 assists, marking his fourth double-double of the season. His performance was a standout moment for the team, as highlighted by head coach Grant McCasland.

"Christian Anderson's really orchestrated everything at a super-high level," McCasland said. "It's nuanced, too. I know people can look at it and (he) makes it look easy at times, but, man, his pace right now, his confidence, his composure, his ability to read what's happening and not get sped up and let it develop … Christian Anderson is carrying a heavy load for us, but, man, is he delivering in just about every way."
