Alexis Mac Allister expresses frustration over Liverpool move

Liverpool's Struggles in the Premier League

Liverpool’s campaign to defend their Premier League title has turned into a challenging journey. After a remarkable season last year where they secured the championship, expectations were high for them to lead the way again this season. However, the competition has been tough, and Arsenal have taken the lead at the top of the table.

Currently, Liverpool are sitting in fourth place, with a gap of twelve points separating them from the top. At the halfway mark, this distance feels significant and raises concerns about their performance so far. The Premier League is known for not giving any leeway, and it emphasizes the importance of squad depth and consistency. Liverpool made several key decisions during the summer transfer window, bringing in new players while also losing some familiar faces. A new manager introduced fresh ideas, but the league has not been kind to these changes.

The team has faced setbacks, including dropped points at Anfield, such as the goalless draw against Leeds on New Year’s Day, which highlighted their struggles. From an external perspective, it seems like the team is searching for its rhythm, but the internal feeling is even more profound.

Alexis Mac Allister's Perspective

Alexis Mac Allister, the midfielder, has openly expressed his disappointment with the current situation. Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the trip to Fulham, he did not hold back his feelings about the team's performance. “It hurts,” he said, acknowledging that Liverpool's title hopes are over. He mentioned that many things have changed from last season, and it is not ideal, but that is the situation they are in, and they need to face it and work towards improvement.

Mac Allister pointed directly to the summer decisions, stating that many things have changed. He mentioned that new players came in to replace those who left, and that too many changes were made. However, he preferred to keep the details private.

When asked about the loss of momentum, he reiterated his point. “Many things changed, as I said. New players came in to replace those who left, we changed too many things, but I prefer to keep it to myself.”

Focus on Recovery and Unity

From a Liverpool perspective, the focus now is on recovery and unity. Mac Allister emphasized this point. “This should be a moment when we are enjoying the Premier League which we won and we should be in a much better place than we are.” He added, “It is quite clear we have amazing players, it is just about becoming a team, that is what we need.”

The midfielder also shared his personal thoughts. “Personally, without the team I am nothing and I feel like we all need to get better and think about the guy next to me, become a better team and that will help us and raise our level.”

Future Goals

With the title no longer in sight, the team still has targets to aim for. “For me it is quite clear but in terms of goals, the Champions League is there and we will definitely fight for that one because it would be a very nice one. And the FA Cup, which is a really important cup for English teams.”

He concluded with a reminder of the standards expected at Liverpool. “We are still there, we are going to play soon and that is another goal for us. When you play for Liverpool, you always have to fight for everything.”
